The Soul Sand creates bubbles in your water elevator that make you move up, and the Magma Block creates bubbles in your water elevator that make you go down. magma makes the source block on top of it become a bubble column water block. Areas covered in bottom half slabs will be unable to spawn mobs, no matter the light level, although double slabs, top half slabs and upside down stairs are still spawnable. Bubble columns push or pull entities and items in certain directions.
